Live video therapy sessions, built in three months

The situation

TheraMe Today connects therapists with patients. The core of the service is the appointment itself — and that meant a video call good enough to hold a therapy session through.

Video is one of those features that sounds like a checkbox and is not. If the connection drops, or the audio cuts, or a patient cannot work out how to join, the session is ruined and the trust goes with it.

What I built

• The live session experience — video and audio between a therapist and a patient, reliable enough for a real appointment.
• The full website that patients use to find a therapist and book a time.
• An admin portal so the team could manage therapists, patients and appointments without needing a developer every time.

The result

• Therapists and patients running remote appointments through the platform.
• The business able to manage its own operations through the admin portal.
• Delivered in about four months from a standing start.

How it was built

Next.js and React for the website and the admin portal. The video calls run on the Agora SDK, which handles the hard parts of real-time audio and video — connection quality, dropped packets, varying network speeds — rather than trying to build that from scratch.

Frontend developer, November 2023 to February 2024, working remotely with a UK team.
